I have 2x 10" Infinity 1020W subs that I found in my basement. I used to have them installed in a car I got rid of 3 years ago and was thinking of putting them in my current car ('05 Mazda 6).

http://www.crutchfield.com/S-WSO8EBk1dgT/p_1081020W/Infinity-Reference-1020w.html#overview-tab

I originally purchased them 10 years ago when I was 16, did not really push them hard so I believe they still may be good.

There are links to 3 pictures, showing the box for 3x10" subs.. I am only hooking up the Infinity's though. I have no idea where to start with them; if they are good, what type of amp should I get? If they are bad, how bad?

The box that I have only has 1 port on the back to hook up an amp, and both subs will 'share' it.... not sure if that is good or bad. I suppose i could drill holes on each side and run wires straight from the amp to the subs... please let me know.

I was not planning to spend a lot on this, but I am tired of the tiny 8" Bose sub that came with the car.

what are you wanting to get out of them exactly?

they are fairly low powered subwoofers so they won't ever be very loud. so if your goal is a pretty loud bass these aren't going to work out.

if your goal however is just to have some bass you can use these they are fine for that.

http://www.amazon.com/MBQUART-FX1-600-Channel-Mono-Block/dp/B004XCCAOK is my suggestion on the amp. mb quart is a good reliable brand for a great price.

as for the box...if you go with a ported box you can probably get 2-3 more decibels out of this setup.

for the wiring part if you keep this box:

you can leave the wiring how it is on that box. this is how they'll wire to the amp: http://m.seimg.net/product/img/subwoofer_wiring/2_subs_SVC_4_ohm_mono.jpg

I had thought when I bought them they were good... 250rms/1000 peak for 10" was good back then.

With that amp and wiring setup, does the 600w get shared between the subs? Meaning, each sub would receive 300w rms? Is that bad since they are rated for 250w rms?

I just found them in the basement and thought it would be cool to hook them up. Do you think I could get any money selling them? I have been out of the audio game for so long I do not know which brands are the best.

the amp is a little overrated so its going to be more like 260 per sub. slightly overpowering them is fine.

the subs were low end when they were new. you may be able to get $50 out of them.

Gotcha. Perhaps I shall just sell all 3 and the box, take the 'profit' and get a new sub, box and amp.

Are the Kicker subs still a good buy? I always liked the square look to them.

What are brands to steer to and which ones to steer away from?

I greatly appreciate your knowledge and assistance.

the L series is overpriced and the sound quality is kind of crappy. they are fairly loud but when you factor in price/sound quality they aren't worth getting.

basically if you are looking for budget setups you will be looking at a few good but cheap brands.

amps: mb quart, hifonics, maybe kenwood.

subs: alpine, pioneer, maybe rockford fosgate.

the maybes are because they cost a bit more compared to the previous brands.

ordering online is the best option when you get the money together because brick and mortar places have too much overpricing to mess with.

Thank you for throwing out random useless (and invalid) information....
But this thread is asking about an amp, in the first place.
