I have a 2004 acura tsx and I just recently got a good deal on all new rockford speakers (2 6x9, 2 6x5 comp, 2 6x5 coax, tweeters), also got a 4 channel rockford amp to power them...

debating on installing a sub with them now or waiting til after winter when I won't need the trunk space.

my concern us that I really like the stock look of the console and I really don't want to put an after market headunit in...will that sacrifice the quality of my sound with these all new quality speakers?

You will not get the most out of your speakers. So yes, it will "sacrifice" SQ in some sense.

So, while you would get more out of a new deck; it wont hurt to keep the old one. Hell, some stock systems really aren't that bad.

I feel like the TSX stock head unit is a decent one but I don't know much about audio...it powers a "premium" 8 speaker audio system stock, but the sound really isn't great compared to what it could be

A new deck will increase the SQ and maximum volume. "Premium" rarely means a whole lot when it comes to car systems. And actually from what i've heard, as far as early 2000 model chryslers go, the "premium" infinity sound systems they used were junk. Granted, thats chrysler and you own acura, it just goes to show that "premium" isn't always worth the extra $.

Honestly, if you have the extra cash, get the deck and new mounting system/bezel if need be. You'll be happier.

You don't need to get a new HU for only the speaker upgrade.
Yes, it will sound a bit better, maybe even a little louder... But you don't want to get a decent HU, then install a Sub/Amp and realize you need a better HU.

I had a 2001 Impala, stock HU running all the speakers (only 4. 2 door and 2 rear) 2 12" Diamond D1's with a 600.1 JL amp.
It sounded pretty legit for being a stock HU, but there is absolutely ZERO customization for it.

After getting a new HU, I did notice a nice upgrade in quality/loudness.


TL;DR... Don't worry about getting a new HU until you get sub/amp hookup.

You just need a amp really.

You can upgrade your deck if u want.. but an amplifier is the way to go.

Go to the audio shop where ever u live, i forget what theyre called but theres this little shit u can get that takes the signal from your speaker wire in the back of ur head unit and converts it to a rca cable


prolly an eq too.
