i have 2x alpine typr r 12" subs (current model) and a 1000w alpine amp (2nd newest model)
problem is it takes up all of the hatch space in my mazda protege5...
ive been thinking about 2x 10's that i will make custom boxes for...

what would be a nice alternative?
i prefer quality even if it is more expensive and i have to sacrifice or get something different
my price range is near the value of what i currently have is, +/1 $100

thinking maybe 10.5 w7's if i can find them on kregs list

dont buy used unless you want to risk buying junk.

if you want more space then go with a higher powered single sub. no real reason to go with 2 subs when 1 can do just as much.

i have also been looking at JL audio W7's and orion hcca's
i prefer quality and would rather buy stuff that will last, however i am really like to have 2 subs for when i listen to metal, it plays the double bass pedal very nice

I had twp 10" type R's and loved them, but just a few months ago sold them and bought a 15" single type R and its louder than the two 10"s and takes up less space.

finally someone who wanta base quality and not quantity, and for something other then the most horrible music ever made, a.k.a. rap.

HCCA's are absolutely retarded loud.
They will take a lot of power if you are trying to handle 2 of them though.

I always go with JL all the way. I firmly believe you cannot beat the quality and durability of the W7. One is usually enough for the average basshead, two is real nice.

If you are looking for a lower powered subwoofer that will knock hard and clean look @:

8" V.2: ( I have four of these in my hatch until recently, Talk about CRAZY bass and CLEAN, great for SQL and SPL... I hit a 146 on 4 8" on 2500... Upgrading now I want 150+ DB )
