1: What is the Year, Make, and Model of the vehicle. 2009 chevy cobalt
2: What is your budget? $500-$600
3: What exactly do you want your outcome to be? (Good sounding music, or loud bass?) A mix of both if possible. Good sounding music is more important though.
4: And specific sub sizes that you prefer more than others? Looking to get subs later
5: How much trunk space do you want to use up? Looking to get subs later

7: What type of music do you listen to? Trance, progressive house, drum and bass, bit of dubstep, classic rock, and a bit of rap/hiphop.

The main thing I'm trying for figure out is what all do I need to buy. I see people talking about wiring harnesses and other stuff that I have idea what it is.

Also how much would I get charged for someone else to put it in for me? I'd be way too nervous that I'd fuck something up.

It sounds like you have no idea what you are doing. If it were me I would just take the shit to my local car audio shop.
What are you even looking for anyway? Just a new radio?

I'm looking for a new head unit and speakers. I'll eventually get a subs sometime in the future.

Is it a cobalt base or cobalt SS?
Standard audio system or does it have a Pioneer audio system?
If it does then it should say Pioneer on the radio and speaker grills.

It's a base, and it does not say Pioneer anywhere.

The reason I want to order online is because everywhere I've looked is way overpriced compared to what it costs online.

I think that you could find a better head unit if you shopped around and found out exactly what features you can get and want.

Thank you, that is exactly the type of advice I was looking for.

I have an open mind if you want to suggest what head unit would run those components decently. As for the rear speakers, would you suggest upgrading to the 3 way http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_19510_Rockford-Fosgate-Power-T1693.html? Or can you not tell enough of a difference for it to be worth it?

Lastly if I did change any of the components (head unit/speakers) would the antenna adapter and wiring harness I need to use stay the same?

Again, thanks for all of your help so far. Planning on ordering Monday.

Yes, the three installation pieces will stay the same. There are two different dash kits for your car, though. One for single DIN and one for double DIN radios.
Metra 95-3302 is for double DIN
Metra 99-3302 is for single DIN

I've always been a fan of Kenwood H/Us. I have owned two, my boss buys em and that's what we sell the most of at the shop.
Some of the DDIN radios put out more watts than the smaller SDIN radios so if you can fit one I would go that route.

I like this one for a non-LCD screen DDIN.

The reason I didn't pick you out the Power series is because they need more watts than the Punch series and won't get as loud without adding a 4-channel amp.
I also don't care for 3 and 4-way speakers and the ones in the rear aren't as audible anyway.

If you want clear sound a lot of people like the way Infinity speakers sound. These run the same price as the Rockfords but are probably a better product.

The Infinity speakers take a little more power to run but they are wired differently than all the other mid-range speakers and are designed to get more power out of your head unit.
