Which is negative in this case? :S I thought usually the striped was positive.

Where? Under the dash? What kind of car?
If it's just some loose wire like speaker wire then it doesn't matter. You decide in that case.

probably test it with a test light and see if its hot or not.

generally striped=negative in my experience but you never know.

Usually any wire (in most car applications bias of model/make) if it has a black stripe on it, it is usually your Negative.. Unless you have a modern dodge... they seem to be color blind and like Grey
