what some brands of some decent 2way car speakers that i can keep an eye out for

i found a pair of these but im not sure if theyre good or not.

im going to make custom desktop computer speakers. was going to get a pair of 2 way speakers and make 2 20w amps using the TDA2040 chip (i make my own electronics and amps), one for each speaker, and get some students at my old highschool make me 2 single ported boxes made out of oak (also stained of course so they look nice) with rounded corners.

was thinking something like this


of course all the edges will be rounded and there will be no sharp corners.

not sure if i want them to glue the pieces together or predrill holes and screw it it then use wood filler.

thoughts? how do you think the sound quality might be?

yea its not actually that hard to make the amps if you have any electronic knowledge. hardest part is not zapping yourself when you use the 12-0-12 transformer to power the thing.

do you have ant suggestion for round 2 way speakers that could run on about 20 amps - 30 amps? (per speaker of course ill be making a separate amp per speaker.)



those look really good but i dont think these 20w amp chips will be able to power those. im not quite sure how to read speaker specs but if im reading it right dont those need 50-150w minimum? the most i could get out of these chips is something like 30w if i bridge two of them. or i could use the TDA2050 amp chip for a 32w 8 ohm load but id need to get a 15-0-15 transformer.

edit:: some other amps and stuff ive built: this one is just a small 1w amp for a game console im making

infinity and boston acoustics are both really good mid

hmm i didnt know that car decks put out 13w.



ill have to keep an eye out for infinity and bostons when i goto work and such then (work in a car scrapyard so i get free speakers and such while processing them)

is there a difference in sound quality between circular speakers and oval ones? i think i might try to find circular ones simply because they look better. and whats a general size for a box/port hole. does it really matter, or can i just do what ever looks good with the speaker size?

edit:: also building material... ive head someone say that oak is not good for making boxes out of. what would be a good wood to use?

circular shaped speakers are better mechanically too. Why two way?

car speakers are designed to be free air not enclosed.

if you put them in an enclosure you will need to have a relatively large port otherwise they won't sound correct. to expect the port to be as large as possible or simply don't put a wall on the back of the box since you won't see it anyways.
