1: What is the Year, Make, and Model of the vehicle.
2002 Mazda Protege 5

2: What is your budget?
$1000 or More

3: What exactly do you want your outcome to be? (Good sounding music, or loud bass?)
Rediculous Loud Bass
Good Speakers
Worried about Power Supply

4: And specific sub sizes that you prefer more than others?
Can my vehicle have 2x 18's? and if so how much power can my vehicle throw if the alternator is only 165 amps (upgraded)
otherwise... 2x 15's else mabye 1x 18

5: How much trunk space do you want to use up?
All of it up to the window line

6: What type of features are you looking for in a CD Player (aka Head Unit)? (Ex: USB, AUX, BlueTooth, etc)
I own flip-outs and double-dins so no problem on the Pioneer Avic 6160 or Kenwood KVT-514

7: What type of music do you listen to?
Rap and Rock

8: Is your stock stereo system amplified? (You may or may not know this)
Not currently waiting for new amplifier install

9: Do you have Steering Wheel Controls? (Volume/Seek on the steering wheel)
No

Basically... Looking for help building the system

The system comes stock with 65-75 amp alternator and i upgraded to 165 amp alternator and i cant go any bigger without changing the harness or belts

Trunk space will easily fit 2x 15's or 1x 18 but i'm not sure if it can fit 2x 18's without dropping seats...

Even if i could fit the box space for 2x 18's I dont believe 165 amps is enough to power 2x 18's with the vehicle running

Would be cheaper to put 4x 12 inch subs in my vehicle and seriously considering going for a multiple of smaller subs

Let me know what your thoughts on the matter are and wich type of setup I should be using

I plan on pushing 2500 watts to the system

so here are my options

4x 12" subwoofer at 400 rms each = 1600 rms
2x 15" subwoofer at 1000 rms each = 2000 rms
1x 18" subwoofer taking the full power from the vehicle at 2500 rms the max alternator can push it can handle

Side Note: I can buy 2x 15" subwoofers that can handle more then 1000 each and would also take over 2500 rms

My trunk has about 8 cubic feet of space to use before the window line and would be willing to make a custom box

Let me know wich setup you think would be best and wich type of subs I should use

I already got radio planned KVT-514 or Kenwood 6160 so no problems there

Remember alternator is only 165 amps and I cant upgrade it any more... Should I also use a second battery with isolaters? Should I use a Capacitor?

Suggestions on some Component Door- Speakers?

Should I use:

2x 15" CVX or 1x 18" DC Audio or 4x 12" CVR's

Will be powered off a 2500 Watt Monoblock Amplifier true RMS being powered on 165 amp alternator

Upgraded battery and planning to add second battery

Let me know advise / concerns / wich setup to use as a daily driver

Thanks

no to all your subwoofer choices first of all.

secondly i wouldn't advise running over 1800rms otherwise you'll have voltage drop problems.

i'll post a setup later on since im sleepy lol.

still looking for advise on system...

So far all i got is

165 amp alternator
Kenwood 6160 double din

?? 4x 12's // 2x 15's // 1x 18??

and will be getting a 2500 rms amplifier... I dont care if the alternator cant push it to it's max always better to have a little head room on the amp to turn it down a bit and stay effecient

14.4 Volts x165 Amps = 2375 watts and figure 500 are for vehicle to perform

So your right I only have about 1900-2000 watts to play with without having a drop in voltage

Thats where the 2nd battery comes into play and i'm hoping to not always bump and I should be fine to use up to 2000-2500 rms all together at peak

4x cvr 12's = 1600 rms
4x cvx 12's = 2000 rms
2x 15 cvx = 2000 rms
2x 15 DC lvl 3's = 1400 rms each total 2800 RMS
1x 18 F.i BTL = as much power as amp can push @ 2000-2500 rms

LmK what type of system I should get still thanks ;)

I'm personally thinking of going the 2x 15" dc audio lvl 3's at 1400 RMS each = 2800 rms total

I run 2200rms on stock electrical no big III and a 150a alternator and I rarely drop below 13.5v so not true, depend on the stock alt/batt.

I've ran 2 15" Level 3 m1's off 1200w and they sounded amazing and took every bit no problem I can only imagine the M2's on twice the power I put to mine being a lot louder than a single Fi BTL 18" since I own one of those and it's only slightly louder than the 15's.

Don't forget a sexy capacitor. It's sometimes a decent way to keep your volts up while your subs hit.

How exactly? Have you even used one of these? Kept my shit at 14volts just using a simple 12volt system.

Capactors take in a bunch of voltage and sends it out in bursts ultimately killing your alternator and probably doing NOTHING to regulate voltage. Capacitors are a waste of money and do more harm than help to your system the only way to "Band-aid." your system is a battery or big 3.

What he said. Caps aren't used for what you're thinking. They can help clean up power, but do nothing as far as voltage regulation.
