So i decided to bridge my subs today.
They each can take 600W , and my amp is a 750W.
I had them hooked up un-bridged before, and decided to give bridging them a try.
( Normal you get ~ 70-80% efficiency out of an amp, so i figured .8 * 750 = 600, and i would turn the amp down a little bit to compensate and make sure they don't blow.

After i did so, my subs started to make weird noises when every a low bass hit came in. It sounded like half of the soun would come out naturally, but the other half wouldn't, and was being choked.
My amp also got very hot, so i stopped listening.

Any advice ( obviously going to un-bridge them, more than likely. ) as to how i can turn my amp down? I read somewhere it has to do with the gain, but i personally have no knowledge on how to do this.

I have an MTX audio Thunder 5302 750W ( there's no letters after the 5302 ) , with 2 Infinty 12" ( although along the edges of the mount it looks like it should say "Pioneer" but the sticker was taken off)
I received the subs + amp from my brother, he had them for 5-6 years prior.

Gain =/= power.

"bridging" is not simply just let me throw 2 wires together to give them power.

Your amp has a certain power rating per resistance, and your subs have a certain power rating per resistance.

IE. my focal solid 1 is 600w @ 1 ohm, 475w @ 2 ohm, and my JL w3 is rated at 500w @ 2ohm. Therefore the amp must be wired to 2 ohms.(simple with a single sub.)

My last setup was a 300w @ 2 ohm amp, but my subs were 150w @ 4ohms. Therefore, the subs had to be wired in parallel to achieve a 2 ohm impedance.



You must know your specs to be able to properly hook up your system. There is numerous websites to use to find wiring guides.
