I have 2 alpine type Rs 12 inch. obviously. and I had them in my eclipse which barley had a panel in between trunk and the inside of car so they HIT HARD. REAL HARD. I now have them in my prelude and tehres a nice solid panel actually but the subs don't hit you as hard.

I want to know if its okay to turn the sub part up. and how far until its to far? is there signs? (besides obvious ones) or should I just not go past certaint points. Or am i being a pussy and subs can handle tons of shit im giving them aslong as im not blowing them with one note.

if you are asking these questions then chances are you don't know how to tune by ear. since thats the case i can't really help you over the internet.

what i can tell you is to worry more about your amplifier is at the correct settings because higher and lower don't matter since there is only 1 correct setting if you don't want to mess things up.

you will also need to find out how much output your alternator has. chances are the prelude has a smaller alternator and can't supply enough power.

so about the amp settings.
what model is it?
keep the bass boost off
the gain voltage should be set to your head units pre-amp output voltage(usually 2 or 4 volts).
what size wiring are you using?

Everything with the battery and alternator are fine. I can tune them just fine But all I need to know is it dangerous for the subs to turn them up just the sub output on my head unit up. (no bass boost) im not worried about battery or anything just does it greatly increase my chance for my subs to blow?
Im figuring no because they usually only blow because of powering issues. which I won't have.

if the amplifiers power range is right for the subs then you can turn them all the way up on the head unit with no worries. turning on the amps bass boost is about the only settings you can get wrong and damage something.

so if the amplifer is 1200-1400rms@1ohm(assuming you have 2 ATR 4ohm dvc models) then just turn the subwoofer settings all the way up on the head unit and you won't have any problems.

and unless your alternator is at least 140amps then you will have voltage drop issues which will make it not perform its rated power.

Alright thats what I was looking for thanks! and yeah I wil have to watch my voltage that is all to make sure i dont fuck anything up but i almost garentee ill be good.
