Depends on what amps you have and how much current they draw..., you want fuses within 3 ft of the bat and then within 3 ft of the amps to be safest. You want 10 amps of fusing per 100 watts rms and then go the closest fuse size up, Ex if you draw 125 amps get a 150

Amp:http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_9852_Rockford-Fosgate-Punch-P300-1.html
Powerinverter:http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_26779_Whistler-PRO-800W.html or http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_18793_Cobra-CPI-880.html
but not from sonicelectronix

so im guessing a 40+ for the amp
and an 80+ for the inverter?

and would it be best to have a circuit breaker up near the battery and a fuse near the amp, vice versa, or both fuse, or both circuit breakers

I have no idea what the use of having that inverter in your car is... but I guess if your leaving it in your car because you want a plug it wouldnt be a bad idea to fuse or put it on a switch. And yes on the fuse sizes 40 and 80+

I don't use any fuses for anything...
Just wire properly and there will be no issues.
