My new amp is coming in the mail tomorrow it may sound stupid but do I need to take it easy for a bit?

no but if the subs are new take em easy on them, i had that exact amp over a year ago and loved it

It's not a new sub but it's probably the first time someone's hooked up 1200 rms to it, think I should go easy or so?


How'd you like the amp? Did it run cool, as efficient as the manufacture says? I have all stock electrical and I'm scared my car won't be able to power it.
I'm going to get 4-0 gauge power wires soon, and a new battery. Maybe the big 3 if I need it.

What kind sub?, 4 gauge will work fine for 1200W, i would do a big 3 in zero gauge you can buy CCA 1/0 from Knukonceptz for less than $2 a foot, What does your stock alternator put out? I never had thermal issues in the 2 years that i owned mine, if you do just raise it up on some legs so it can circulate.

One Rockford Fosgate T2 12 in a ported box. 1200 watts rms, 2400 peak. I dunno the alternator amperage, but its for a 1999 Mitsubishi Galant. Ill try to look it up in the manual when I go to work.

I know I need a new power wire because mine is def not 4 gauge, it was some cheap walmart amp kit when I first got sony xplods when I was new to the whole audio thing, thank god I know muuuch more now. Once I get some money I need to get a bigger ported box, the big 3, battery. What do you think I should get first? Obv not the box. I just don't want my alternator destroyed , or doing any damage to my car's electrical. I might be able to salvage 4 gauge from my brother sold caddy, but he sold it and the guy hasn't picked it up so thats a maybe if I can get it.

Dont skimp on wire, knukonceptz.com CCA the cheaper wire will do just fine for your application 4/0 will work find but 1/0 idealy so that leaves you room to upgrade down the road, for 1200w i wouldnt bother adding an alternator just pop in a kinetik hc2000 or some other decent sized bat in the back and you should notice a huge difference. But see how your voltage holds up on a stock bat first.
