Apologies for not making much sense here but please help


I recently had 2 subwoofers installed, two 10" Kicker comps

I have them hooked up to a 300W 4 channel Alpine (It was a gift and I'm strapped for cash to get a 2 channel)

This amp is bridged

As of late, my car hardly starts, it sputters, the battery dies and it's a huge fucking mess..

I have a 2005 Pontiac Sunfire.

I have read a lot about batteries in the trunk, should I put a battery in the trunk?

Should I get a new battery up front?

Would I need a new alternator?

im guessing your alternator died and now ur battery is on its way.
You can buy a voltage meter at walmart that plugs into your cigarette lighter.
Check the voltage when the car is off then start your car. there is even lights that indicate a bad battery or if it's the alternator.
The meter is like 13$ U.S.
It shouldnt have killed your alternator unless you had some a poor battery to start with.

so if it killed my alternator im out like 600$ then right

they're not that expensive....but yes, your subs shouldn't kill you alternator....so you most likely have to buy a new one, not put more batteries in your car.

Battery is shot. Get a better battery. I would suggest something like optima.
Also big three would be a logical thing to do

u could get 2 250 amp alts for that bro lol

battery and alt probably looking around 250-300

for that model car and year you can prob go to a junk yard or like a pick and pull place near your house. used one runs lik 50 bucks and are easy to install and remove old one. use a meter on your battery. battery is cheaper. plus if u never have changed out your battery it might be time since the car is 7 years old.

e/ a battery in your trunk to just run your sub would be a tough install the battery would just die eventually unless you hooked it up with alternator.
which means ud have to run wires to it.

was your subs professionally installed or one of your friends do it ?

subs professionally installed.

Doesn't mean anything. Couldve had the new desk jockey intern do it for all you know.

Also Clean Your Battery! Don't know how many times i have been asked to deal with power issues and the terminals are crusted over or able to be pulled off by hand.

Exactly "professional" these days are kids at bestbuy that just got out of high school the prerequisites for an audio installer are just about bar none.
