I have a question and maybe you all can help.

Today i was pondering about how to get rid of the horrid rattle of my roof when im really slamming the sub.

It bows up and down in the middle, and I would like to stop it for cleaner quality and maybe hit a 153 instead of 152.

My question is what would i put on the roof to stop this?

I know i have seen people try dampeners and things but that probably wouldn't completely rid me of this problem.

I was thinking maybe some sort of support beam from the center of the roof to the ground, but of what material? Metal pipe, a 4x4?

Another problem is i don't know what exactly is under the roof because i cant see it with the vinyl on, and i have no way to remove it w/o ruining it.

I think it looks somewhat like this if your looking from the side (eye level with the roof if it were cut in half)
The red is the metal roof that is under the vinyl that i cannot see (this is a assumption of what it looks like)

The part that is drops down seems to feel like a support beam or structure going across the middle of the roof from left to right, so could I bolt something to this w/o hitting the roof itself (on the outside of the truck)?

I feel this is the best option but i could be wrong
This is a picture of basically what i was thinking a beam of metal/pipe/4x4 would go and look like.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Deadener and the likes will reduce a lot of flex believe it or not... You can use Expanding foam and spray it in between that helps immensely with flex. Another thing is a Stripper pole like your idea which DOES work and also last but not least you could do wooden crossbraces all work all are effective just gotta find your best method.

well my head liner is going to take a shit if i try anything with it so i think my best bet is a pole.

Any ideas on how to do the pole effectively?
1- what material to use
2- how to mount and secure it
3- making it removable for future installs

Daily driver stripper pole isnt very practical, Stripper poles are mainly to prevent windsheild flex. just slap like 2 -3 layers of deadner on it your roof and it will be SOLID and sound gg.

i can't because if i take down my vinyl it will ruin it, thus spending more money to fix that on top of the deadener

i think a pole might be the easiest/cheapest route

I tested it with a little 2x2 and some rags underneath and on top and it completely fixed the problem, so what material should i use to permanently fix it?

a stripper pole would require you cutting your vinyl and welding direct to your roof to it along with your base. It is not necessary for a daily driver.

Honestly i dont need to weld up a setup.

I plan to build this so it is removable so when i do a upgrade i can take it out with relative ease.

I was thinking a simple 4x4 with a mounting plate on bottom and top for added support and a so that that plate can stay permanent but the pole itself is removable.
