i've been learning to dj for the past few months and finally decided to start saving for my own gear.
i don't plan on djing trying to make a job out of it, and probably won't be doing it at parties either. just planning on djing because it's fun and i would love to make this into one of my main hobbies.

now i don't know who in this forum knows a ton about djing or anything, and i haven't been able to find any solid answers (with proof) on google.

so here's my question,

for turntables would it be valuable to invest in vinyl or cd?
my friend has cd tables, but i heard people experience the truth authenticity of djing through vinyl tables

i'll be buying a time coded system so i can connect whichever one to my computer and not have to buy individual records or cds.

so far from what i think i've learned is, vinyl tables are definitely bigger and will require needles/stylus and slipmats.
definitely cd might be a little easier but i'm not looking to take the easy way out.

in the end i'm sure both of them would be fun, but i plan on sticking with whichever tables i end up buying.

iso opinions! thanks

edit: also currently trying to find an active djing forum if anyone knows of one let me know!

i used to dj weddings and other events, ive got a numark ns7. its digital but has real vinyl table overlays which i love for scratching.

What are you looking to do mainly scratching or mixing?

Like you said i wouldnt get vinyl or cd's. Get something digital that you can hook directly into your laptop. I convinced my neighbor to buy a numark mixtrak which are really reasonably priced and honestly has some features i wish my ns7 had...and if you like it get something bigger and better

i actually do want vinyl or cd tables.
i'm using a time coded system which allows you to hook them up so i guess it's practically a digital one.
just because i like the authenticity of how it looks heh.
if you've gone so far as to be able to dj for weddings you must have tried both or atleast one of them a few times? maybe? any advice?
also i'mnot really cheap planning on spending like 1.5k ish just on the dj equip not including speakers
