everything depends on the specific sub model.

Yeah depending on the sub you plan on getting, look at where it states "recommended enclosure volume sealed/ported:" in the owner's manual that comes with it, or on the corresponding vendor website. Then go from there when you're building or buying the box.

I prefer ported, I have a single 12", and I like deep thunderous bass, but I also do like it to sound good and not like donkey farting, which is what happens when you get a ported box NOT matched to the sub you bought.

I have two 10's in a s10 in a sealed box and I have to have the windows rolled down when I turn it up past like 18 due to it flexing the roof too much
