Looking to spend no more than $300. These so far have been the top recommendations I've seen (though I threw the TB's in as well since I've owned both these pairs)

The headset is for amateur gaming, and sound quality for watching movies is just as important for me if not more.

Expensive headsets are a waste of money imo, after only a few months the cables get tangled and built up stress on the bends eventually causing your headset to go out. I think i went thru something like 8 headsets in 1 year lol. However dont get the tritons the mics are much to sensetive to low frequencies, i was getting drowned out by planes flying over my house, my computer fans and other stupid shit. I know the xbox360 subforum would have more knowledge

im not going crazy overboard like audiophile headsets that cost $500+

just want a decent set for optimally under 200 but willing to go up to 300 for a good one

I have the older turtle beach x4's and they are wonderful.

I would assume the X41's are good if not better.

So I chose TB X41's

i bought the tbs XL1 saturday ... shit sucks dick lol .. im deff returning it next weekend

I spent $50 on mine and it works fine.

Thus far I've tried TB X11's, keeping those as a second pair
PX5's they were okay, but I returned them
Siberia V2's they didn't feel solid...very flimsy. But they were comfortable enough and the sound quality/bass were great, though the volume couldn't go very loud. I returned them as I heard that buying the Astro Mixamp won't change much in terms of amplification.
Tritton AX 720's feel solid on my head, not the most comfortable headset, looks gay, mic is gay, but the bass and the volume cap is pretty good, the bass becomes too much though I can't hear footsteps very well and the sound itself is missing something, it doesn't have that full aesthetic range or acoustics; so I'm probably going to return these as well. I don't know what I should go for buy I'd like to try Sennheiser's PC-350 if I can find one at a store around here just to try beforehand..
