i want to get JL audio speakers to replace all the speakers in a 2000 Malibu LS. its a hand me down, nn flames. still runs really nicely so all be jelly k.
i chose JL audio specifically because JL is my initials. would be epic street cred. im a car audio noob so ill need some help here.
would this be ideal for good sounding music with some mind blasting bass?
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_components.php?comp%5Fid=60

found a website that sells a pair in Canada for $119.99.

im not sure how many of which speakers ill need to buy in total. i like to play my music loud with the speakers down. yeah im one of those dorks. bass is what i want but i dont think ill need a subwoofer. just something thatll make the music nice and crisp to hear. but im open for opinions.

If you want bass to actually be bass, you need a sub. Not really any way around it.

pretty sure genesis come with factory subwoofer

some even have like 14 speakers stock.

your car will need a subwoofer for bass its just how it is.

damn. what if i get a Scion tC 2011? it says that it comes with 8 speakers. i went to see it today. had three speakers on each door (its a coupe) and two in the back seat. not sure which speakers they are. im sure those spearkers are way better than the 2000 Malibu, amirite? not sure how i would add a subwoofer in a hatchback, but i was told that its a popular thing.

the basic speakers will be better but even entry level aftermarkets are better than premium package audio.

a sub/amp/box isn't that expensive and its easy to put in your trunk and leave you quite a bit of space.

whats the difference between a sub and a box? im nub at this, but arent subwoofers in a box?
im lookin at the jl audio site and it has its own section for "enclosed subwoofer systems". seems to me that its just a box that they recreated.
is it safe to say that i could just make my own box and buy subwoofers and an amp?
what should i be lookin for in a subwoofer and amp?

ive got a ton of trunk space so it wont be a problem

yes you can make your own but if you are new its not recommended because the box has to be properly spec'd for the subwoofer.

you can buy a subwoofer/amp/premade box online easily.

the subwoofers that come in a box usually are made specifically for that subwoofer.

if you aren't wanting to spend very much move away from jl cause they are overpriced as hell.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/ ships to canada.

you're going to need

single din head unit

2 4x6 speakers for front (i suggest rockford fosgate)
2 6x9 speakers for rear deck (i suggest rockford fosgate)

for sub/amp/box it'll depend on how much is left in the budget after you get the other stuff.

JL stands for just lost, especially in your wallet. You can get better equipment for a fraction of the price.
