1) get some bass reflex speakers, car audio speakers dont work well for ur home. If you want a ton of bass you can get an bigger individual sub. You can get these already on their individual enclosures, so you dont have to worry about building a box and doing all the math.
2)Get a receiver to power your speakers, make sure the receiver can put out enough watts for your speakers, at the impedance your speakers need.

Remember you can connect most receivers to more than 1 electronic device. So you could also use it with any tv/xbox/ps3, etc.. you might have on the same room.

yeah man I'm really looking for a ton of bass that will shake the floor and give you that little "chest ache" if you know what I mean. like you know how when you're sitting in the back seat of a car with two nice 12's and you get the feeling of a chest pain with all the bass? that's really want I'm looking for.
but that's not all I want. I also wanna be able to hear my music. I don't want straight up bass but I do want a loot of bass.

I was at a frat party tonight and they had a similar set up that you posted. I saw a receiver and a MTX jackhammer connected to it I guess (I didnt look at the wiring. just saw the jackhammer + a receiver + two speakers and an aux cable connected to an ipod touch)

I'm mainly looking for a house party setup. not a setup for my personal set up.

you can power your amp with a computer power supply with some simple cutting and bridging.

This is what i use now very cheap http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3756958&SRCCODE=WEBGOOPA&cm%5Fmmc%5Fo=mH4CjC7BBTkwCjCV1-CjCE&ctype=2

you can get steady power to any amp around 1000rms with that power supply.

Dont hate, this is what 2 months of unemployment during the summer did

haha hell yeah man
those type R's?
and yeah dude I like your setup. other than all those fugly wires hanging out xD

so will the power supply come with all the right cables I'll need to connect it to the amp? or will I need to buy any additional stuff?
and then how would I connect my computer/ipod to it? I would need some kind of a receiver right?

The sub rattles my drop ceiling, so yeah. But, if it's a house party setup I'd just go receiver/old school high mid low towers.

Got any recommendations on good sounding towers with great bass bro?

I was originally thinking about 2 computer speakers + 1 400-600 rms woofer (type R or p3)

but I think towers would be more ideal. It's just that I'm afraid the bass isn't gonna be much on them and/or I would have to break the bank for one that has heavy bass

I don't know a shit ton about towers, but the best I've heard are Cerwin Vega's.
