I been doing a lot of researching to see the pros and cons of each one and I just want to know what you guys think.

What kind of music do you listen to?

Pretty much everything but country haha. My ipod is mostly rap, dubstep, dnb.

I'd go with ported.


before I made my decision on what box I should get I listened to my installers sealed box and my friends ported box and me personally I found ported more suitable for rap, trance, and drum n bass.

but if u can give both a listen because this is something that's more of a preference rather than listening to other peoples opinion.

better check your trunk space
airspace in box size vs your speaker size and your setup
in the end the first thing that matters is going to be your equipment, then the size of the box vs the equipment, then the size of the airspace in the box vsthe size of the trunk
look into that stuff , but if youve never had a system in a car, installed or worked with stuff like this, u might want to go to some car shows and get some opinions from people who have


unless enzo's friends had the exact same setup+exact same car, it would be stupid to use that opinion as a reference.

Well if anyone is familiar with a Mazda Protege trunk, it's pretty spacious. I think i might be able to put a ported box in there. I guess there's only one way to find out lol.

the type of subwoofers is what matters:P and what amp u have powering them is going to be what matters most
as well as how you set it up


i remember when i was a kid, i must of wasted over 10k on different setups in different cars. its better to learn from others mistakes in this case, if you are doing it just to have a louder radio than ur stock, then it really doesnt matter

A ported enclosure, with the same woofer, vehicle, and power, will be louder throughout it's usable response, no matter what you listen to. A sealed enclosure will have flatter response, sound better overall, handle more power, and be a lot less efficient.



I run a ported enclosure for my Incriminator Audio Death Row 15, 3.0 cubic feet net tuned to 30 hertz. It sounds good enough for me, and gets stupid loud

basically its like this...if you listen mostly to music with a slower bass line go with a ported box tuned to that frequency range to maximize sub output.

if you listen to a broad spectrum of music with wide ranges of bass frequencies then go with a sealed because it performs okay under a larger spectrum.


i usually run sealed because i listen to lots of different music and its easier to set a amplifier response range than to deal with a box that only wants to perform right at a certain frequency.

I'd go with a smaller sub before I'd go with a sealed box.
