so a friend got a new cd player to replace the old one..nothing special, cheapest one he could find that would read usb...

i cant find almost any information on the old stereo..it's a pioneer DEH-235. basically was wondering, the new one came with a small bundle of cables..is it likely that we will need to buy an adapter, or rewire the whole car in order to
replace the unit.

i believe this is the new unit
http://www.amazon.com/Dual-XDMA6630-Receiver-Direct-Control/dp/B0043I7U1W/ref=sr_1_9?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1313372634&sr=1-9

he got it cheaper than that...and is not hooked up to a special sound system, just the speakers that came in his car..he wasn't looking for high quality..
i understand it's not a well respected brand, and i'm sure can be brought back(he got it at walmart, which i know will piss off anyone who really likes car audio)..

no need for people telling me to have him return it..i know he could have obviously gotten something better..but didn't wanna spend more than like 70$ or so..if it sounds nice after set up, he will keep it..hates returning things..

is there going to be a necessary separate purchase, or is what's included all that will be needed(aside from tools, which i have so he won't need to buy those)?

a friend of mine is into car audio big time and will be helping in the setup..please keep in mind it's not about "upgrading" it's about replacing the really old unit

go grab a wiring harness from walmart for his vehicle model

comes with an end that wires onto the head units wires and an end that wires to the cars wires.

get some of these to attach the wires or just twist them together tight and tape them up. called butt connectors usually but easy to find based on looks. make sure to buy the right size for your wires.

I have so much electrical stuff at my disposal that we definitely have those of all sizes...

so this new wiring harness..will it require us to pull apart the car and rewire it through the trim(like i did when we replaced them in a friends explorer) or does it work kinda like a coupler at the front of the car?

really appreciate the help..he's anxious as fuck to get that thing in there.
now out of my curiosity..will this system be terrible for him or will it be at least all right where he isn't interested in anything more than being able to listen while driving.

the old head unit was aftermarket right?

if so just unhook the undo the wiring from the head unit coupler and wire it to the new head unit and hook it back to the one under the dash.

www.metraonline.com

Call them and find out where the closest place nearby is.

Most likely going to be a Best Buy.
