Im looking for expert advice.

I need to know exactly what I need to buy to set up my cars system.

I already have my head unit installed. I know someone that installs for a good price. ( i dont wanna ask until im ready ;) )

I want an amp, a sub, and speakers...

What kind of cables do I need? and what else would I need?

I'm also looking for reccomendations. I don't wanna spend much, but I want quality.

Im kinda like the person to buy logitech speakers over bose cuz i think its good enough

well the most i'd spend is 300 for parts

i thought goign through craigslist would be a good idea.

I dont really want a fancy sub, just something to give it some extra bass. i liked this one sony 10 inch i saw on craigslist for 40 bucks. is that like a good deal if it works fine?

cheap and good enough = pioneer.

10-12" sub + pioneer amp + 2 5" speakers for the front + 2 6x7.25 speakers for the rear = approximately 275 bucks new, and the sizes on the mids I mentioned are stock size for a 97 probe, so no cutting or bolt kits. a cheap wiring kit for the sub/amp will run you 25 bucks. These prices are approximate and don't include tax, so if you live some place like nyc or la the total will be more like 350ish. New wires for the speakers aren't really necessary if you're not shooting for pro quality. I agree on staying away from Sony generally, but there are good xplod subs and amps (they're black not red). They cost a lot more than they're really worth though. Also, used subs and speakers are a terrible idea since the cones could be blown and you don't really know when buying as is/no warranty.

a 97 Probe has 6.5" speakers in the front and 6X8's in the back..

$300 wont get you much, you're betting off saving up a little more to get some stuff that you wont ever have to replace in the future.

Sub in box
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_28493_Rockford_Fosgate_P3-1X12.aspx
$259

Amp for the sub
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_19334_Rockford_Fosgate_Punch_P300-1.aspx
$148

Amp wiring kit
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_19592_Rockford_Fosgate_RFK4D.aspx
$89 (You should be able to find a good kit local for cheaper than this, this website doesnt have Tsunami or Stinger wire kits, so I went with the next best.)

6x8 Rear Speakers
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_21839_Rockford_Fosgate_P1683.aspx
$64

6.5" Front Speakers
http://www.onlinecarstereo.com/CarAudio/p_21788_Rockford_Fosgate_P1653.aspx
$67

Total: $627

If you have left over money, get a 4 channel amp for the speakers.

Mass overkill imo

Go to best buy or somewhere mabye eeebay (NOT WALMART Don't even touch walmarts pioneer brand and don't get me started on their sony's) you can find a 500 true rms mono block rockford amp for 150$ then grab a couple 10 or 12" rockford dvc prime series 250w speakers (x2 voice coils = 500w speakers may or may not come with a box) price difference is around 20$ 60 for 10's 80 for 12's.. you can get a 8 gauge wiring kit from wally world for around 20 bucks, you don't need thicker for 500w.. then find a junk yard and either a mustang or a cadillac with a bose system and snag the interior speakers for dirt cheap, no matter what if you buy new interior speakers don't get 4 ways they have a nasty accoustic screech when u crank it up.. enjoy the ride & sound quality & the assurance that your not gonna burn up your factory alternator or need a capacitor unless your running a lot of other stuff.
