Hello all, I have a question on my setup.

2005 Dodge Magnum R/T

"8" speaker setup. factory Boston accounstics package, 6 speakers in total. All replaced with Kicker KSC speakers.

2 speakers in dash 3.5" (kicker KSC350)
2x 6x9 Coaxials in front driver door (KSC6930)
2x 6x9 coaxials in rear trunk area (kicker KSC690)

The final goal is good sound and possibly add subwoofers later on. Not wanting excessively loud and obnoxious but something a little better.

Recently my factory amplifier went out. The front driver lower door speaker won't work. I verified that it's the amplifier and not the speaker itself. I'm looking at aftermarket amplifiers, but the question I'm wondering is, do I need a 6 channel or a 4-channel amp?

If I replace my factory cd deck, then I could the set the cd deck to power the front dash speakers (~50rms max) and then have the other 4 speakers on an amplifier, 400 watt amp at 100 watts each? Or would I want all speakers on an amplifier?

Without replacing all my speakers, what can I do to help remedy my situation?

thanks everyone.

When you swapped out the factory 6 speakers with aftermarket did you ensure the impedance was matched? Often time aftermarket is 4 ohm and factory setups are 2 ohm leading to some issues.

Opt for a properly rated six channel amplifier to run the system. Make sure impedance is matched. Assuming you can swap in place without much re-wirimg this way or dash disassembly.

Also, recommend you get an acomplfier that can go over the maximum you'll expect to draw. Say it's 800W, minimum get 1000W amplifier. About 20% margin more
