If money is a big issue, wait for the Rockford Prime series shallow mounts, they should be out soon, they announced them a week or so ago.

Hi, my amp is the Kenwood KAC-9105d that puts out 900w @ 2ohm
I want bigger woofers and I plan on buying a pair of Alpine Type R's

I can't decide if I should get the old 500w ones or the new 600w ones.
Will under-powering my subs by 150w a piece make them not perform as well as having the old style ones, which would only be under-powered by 50w?

I have the old ones, and if your amp is 900 watts and your subs are 1000 max, it shouldn't hurt them.

/e i'v powered mine with a 800 watt amp before and it was fine.

go with the older ones if you aren't going to get a new amp later on, or new ones if you plan on possibly getting a new amp in the future.
