I use sealed boxes.

Sealed is going to be trickier to get 2k out of without blowing something plus you can't smell it if the coil starts toasting... I would reconcider but then again you have no room I would just run 1200 to them and stick with it it's really not worth the money to run 2 Type R's when you could get better 12's that would take the power/abuse and get louder sealed and sound better.

This is why I don't like Type R's.

I'm eventually getting rid of my 10's and getting a single 12 or 15 that will fit behind just my drivers seat.

Yeah you told me that, then why are we talking about Type R's on 2k? Fuck it run them hard blow em and get a good 12/15 that can take 2k sealed I recommend the DC Level 4 M2 they're about $400 shipped and will take upwards of 1500-2k daily no problem and they sound good and dig deep in sealed boxes I would recommend a DC Level 3 M2 but chances are it won't do well on 2k but they are amazing in sealed boxes I'd say it would take 1500 though. Also a Fi Q 15" fully loaded will take about 1500-2k daily and only costs about $300 and will probably sound best too.

I'm not going to get a new sub until I do my ls1 swap, which is still a year or so away.

Type R's are considered a "competition." subwoofer... For the money they're not really worth it please explain to me how they are? I see a lot of blind Alpine and Rockford nuthuggers here with no notion to back their claims. If I can get more performance with better SQ from a single subwoofer that costs less than 2 ATR's and gives me more air space at the same time why get the Type R's? Type R's are like $80 subwoofers at best.

You could if you didn't blindly buy into shitty brands that cost more than they should... They don't have great bang for your buck at all that's the problem. Did I not just say you could have better for less if you went with Sundown or other brands in the same category?

They're labeled as a competition subwoofer so are the Type x's and CVR's most of these mainstream brands think anything 600w and above is "competition." a few people here have said themsevles they have seen Type R's are competitions and that they are worthy competition subwoofers.

Honestly my DC's arent "competition" subwoofers either they're just daily mid-level speakers.
