longer? more money? a few seconds and a few cents are good reasons to use a less reliable method?
what makes the shop shitty is worrying more about getting things done as fast and cheap as possible. doing the best job you can should be the main priority.
when its your own stuff i'm not arguing you can do whatever you feel like. if you want to use bubble gum and electrical tape...well thats your business. however when someone is paying for a professional install i feel it should be done better than they could of done at home.
It's not a few seconds... it takes nearly twice as long to solder/shrink wrap as it does to simply use butt connectors... and not a few cents quality solder is expensive and shrink wrap as well and the power it takes to use the solder all day long. Shops work off saving money it costs a lot to run the shop and use the equipment, the bosses of most shops will not allow useless time/money to wasted. It's just not effective cost/performance wise and thats why shops dont do it. To think that installers dont know how to solder/shrink wrap is rediculous its not know how its just how it works.
IF you ever worked for a shop you'd understand but you dont so just take my word for it and stop with this retarded argument. Theres no right or wrong it's what you prefer just dont go to shops but dont talk shit about installers because they dont shrink wrap and solder wiring harnesses all the time. If it was something you saw then yes people would probably take the time to do it but theres seriously zero reason to do this and a ton of reasons not to do it.
We do really clean professional installs at my shop and we dont solder wiring harnesses end of story think what you want lol when you have 4 installs lined up in a day and you need to figure out and do everything from scratch sometimes fixing other shops garbage you dont have time to fuck around with rinky dink shit like soldering when its not even needed. It's not like were sitting in our yard doing a friends install for beer and pizza we have a time line, we have a budget and we have a curtain way to do shit, even the installers dont always agree with it but its how the business industry works blame the shops not the installers.
