How would it be a better connection and less resistance than straight wire?

believing in something drops the load to .5 ohms automatically. Should see my unicorn amp. it poops Gnomes that build perfectly tuned t-line boxes.

No it doesn't mean anything automatically but less threads touch than using a soldered terminal it has been proven that terminals usually work best.

Uh. as far as stereo wiring is concerned that is completely false. havent u ever wondered why they make terminal cups instead of terminal plates on higher end products? and cmon man those color to gauge connectors never hold a crimp and if the did its exposed fittings are just asking to be grounded. sure a solid wire with less threads may have = to its original attached wire but never better. As far as soldering goes, it's still only as good as the metal its bonded too

For terminals that can't fit the wire you want to run that's not remotely false. Try sticking 4 ga into a 4 channel amplifier without cups. My Kicker KX600.4 was hardly low end and used plated terminals and it required 4 ga and only soldered terminals worked best. It has been proven that a good soldered terminal is better conduction than threated wire it's just more metal touching. Really the difference is minimal and by no means worth arguing about but to say it's stupid to use them is a stupid statement in its own.

My electrician buddy that came over to look at my new wiring agrees as far as cerro wiring is concerned but as for audio applications he lol'd and said "The battery terminals and the engine ground maybe, but any of the other stuff should be set screwed or them spring thingy clamps the speakers have" word for word from a foreman electrician that works at refineries.
Why would you put another metal onto the pretty copper? Did you know that when one metal touches a dissimilar metal galvanic corrosion occurs. Unless you are spending 4-20$ per terminal that has been treated and plated.
which would be pretty stupid because you could have just plugged the wire in and be done with it

i like how he thinks they aren't stupid and useless but the only situation he could defend them with is if you are too stupid to run the right gauge wire for the amp.

Just did away with the terminals on this prefab enclosure that i modded and went amp to sub. Kid sold me 14 ft of 8 gauge speaker wire for 5.00, pretty sure he typed in the wrong wire.
Buddy came by and metered the amp at 1920 rms so its not too bad.

2nd yellowtops battery terminals and wires are being shipped, shoulda been here by now :(

Used the extra rubberized spacers from my Tv wall mount to let the amp breathe and to hide some wires.

Can't see it but i Bolted the box down from the inside and then put the subs in with 3 different screw heads. Anti theft
I fiddled with the ports and got them tuned down to 33 from 46, rhino lined the interior of the box.
In the process of building a box for my other car and this one seems to do just fine so im gonna keep it until i have more time.
This build cost 1/4 of what my car has into it and is pretty much maintenance free.
It's much easier to do this kind of build when you take advice and read and compare and then do it just once instead of just buying what you think is good. then finding out something isnt as good as you thought or finding out your in over your head
when you buy a massive amp that is only 2 ohm stable and buy 2 subs with 4ohm dvc's to go with it. Then you find out its gonna be another 500$ to do your electrical cuz that amp is so badass.
So if your new and want a system don't impulse buy. You will come to see there is stuff that is way better for nearly the same price as what you would be spending if you wondered into a local car audio or a radio shack ect.
So don't diss on this guy for his system. We have all had what we thought was good and would lol at now. I dont even use Jsp for much anything other than this thread. I consider some of the people in here pretty knowlegeable and am thankful for introductions to stores like sonic that i wouldn't have trusted had it not been for your vouches.
Blah im done ranting. Gonna go solder those terminals down before they get any ideas :bonk:

Oh snap forgot i quoted u. was gonna say something back then i got sidetracked.

the splice wire coming off of that battery terminal is for a meter i have setup at the moment, it's going bye bye as soon as my new terminals get here. Just an experiment that hasnt been soldered yet

No you just think because someone agrees with you, you are always right. My father is also an Electrician and disagrees with your friend who is an electrician I tend to believe my dad as hes basically a genius lol. As I stated IF you have correct round wire terminals with the screws then regular wire is fine... But if you're trying to stick tons of wire into a plate screw amplifier u can see where many of the strands don't touch, it's common sense and I don't see how anyone can argue lol. It has nothing to do with matching gauges with the amplifier, like I said I had a Kicker that was rated for 4ga and I could only fit all of the 4ga with terminals, not ALL good amplifiers use those better screw down terminals.

I for one don't use them as most/all my amplifiers are screw downs, but on my amps that don't have that Solder + Terminal = best.

Like I said it's an argument at best since it really doesn't matter and won't improve/worsen your system, just something stupid for elitists to fight over.
