Snapping leads is nothing major, happened to me twice and subs are still good as new. No need for a recone at all, just get it fixed and soldered correctly

I called up the only two audio shops around here asking about resolding and their prices. Both said 45$... Which is the price of a new recone. And one said that I can't use solder... I need some "insert fancy name I can't pronounce"

the more i look at...the more it seems like it won't hold very long either way.

i'd go ahead and look into reconing for a long term solution and convert it to direct leads when its done.

What type of leads do I have now? What are the benefits of direct ones.

you have terminal leads. if you do direct leads you don't have 1 short piece of wire that can mess up.

Another question, I tore the cone out of both of my subwoofers to explore the inside before I ship them off for a recone kit, I was able to remove basically everything on one, but the other... It was 100% seized up so I was curious to see the inside. The surround would not budge one bit. I seriously can not get the inside part, the voice coil ( I believe that's the proper name) out. I'm pulling as hard as I can and it's just not moving. Any idea what happened? I'm scared Ill have to buy a new SA-12 All together or something.

You unwound your voice coil, the woofer got too hot the glue holding the coil together melted. Keep the coil gaps on the motors taped off to make sure no particles get inside or that will fuck up your SA motors. Let sundown deal with the seized motor they will be fine

pitch it and buy one off craigslist. seen 2 of em sell for 165 no box
