yes it would be better to go with 6.5s all around. there are far more options out there in 6.5s.

been doing alot of research last few days, and decided i think i would rather get some decent speakers, then get an amp at another date because i know they will still sound miles better than the stock ones without an amp, but i dont wanna spend all my $$ at once if i dont have to.
what would be some suggestions for both sets? again looking for a good balance between bass and good clarity. (assume 6x9 rears and 6.5 fronts.[i looked and the speaker spot in the door is nearly 7", the car just has 4x6 for stocks, lots of people have put 6.5's with a custom mount])

do 6.5s instead of 6x9s in rear.

if you are wanting coaxials then i'd go with something like http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_19511_Rockford-Fosgate-Power-T1652.html

they also come with a 6x9 adapter plates free.

I would just leave 6x9 in the back because they had more surface = more bass from the back, then get a nice pair of comps for the front (where all the clear sound is going to come from anyway).
I'm still learning thought ;)

was my reasoning as well (although not quite as expirenced im sure)
i just read the reviews for both and they said the 69's were rich bass/good sound and the 65's had nice mids/highs

its kind of like square subs. they get louder because of more surface area but at the end of the day the sound quality suffers. its why you don't see high end companies throwing out 6x9 components but there are 6.5s in the thousands of dollars range.

plus compared to those rockfords i doubt there is more surface area since they don't use a tower in the middle like the 6x9s he linked.

I get little to no audible sound from my back speakers anyway, so that why I always thought I should just leave the bass to the rear speakers and let the highs come through the front haha.
When I upgrade I might just take the 6.5s out of the deck completely and double the power to the fronts. That way I can get more air coming into the cab.
I think that a DD m1 and 3500 would blow up the rear deck speakers anyway so it wouldn't matter ;)

Bro just buy the 6.5s for the rear like he said. They always do have better sound and I really like the way those Powers are designed.

Dynamat is veeerrry expensive and is probably not worth the cost at all for what you're doing.
You could grab a pair of universal baffles for your back speakers and maybe the fronts too. I'm sure that would help with bass reproduction a little.

put some amped midwoofers in their place.

not really. money would be better spent going towards an amp.

as for dynamat yes and no. for your trunk/doors yes if its easy access but for your roof/floor probably not because you have to do a lot of work.

kk, then just get same ones for the front or get polks or what?
and will the baffles make a noticeable difference?
