higher decibal per watt (sens) means better sq as well
im not a pioneer whore but until other name brands make better for same price im buying them :)

keep in mind the sensitivity ratings are taken in IB setups, so everything changes once you put it in a box.

they need a much more powerful amp than that.

1000rms@1ohm amplifier is what that sub will need to function properly.

like: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_23874_MB-Quart-ONX1.1000D.html

you will also need a 1/0 gauge wiring kit like :http://www.knukonceptz.com/productDetail.cfm?prodID=KCA-PK0 with the 80 amp fuse.

you'll also probably want to grab around 12 foot of 1/0 wiring for the big 3 upgrade. http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMaster.cfm?category=KCA%20Kable

holy overkill batman... firstly the sub would run fine on 550watts, it just wouldn't get as loud as if it had 1000watts. So it's all down to if he has enough cash for 1000. The sub doesn't "need" 1000watts, that's just the most RMS it can take.

Secondly, 1/0gauge wiring kit for 1000watts? LOL, I mean overkill in wiring isn't a bad thing but it is a waste of money. On 1000watts you could get by with 4awg, or you can go to 2awg for peace of mind if you like.

not overkill at all if you want it too work <_<

this setup pulled hair tricks on 2.2k rms in an explorer. Low as hell and awesome sound quality. So until you start building 2-3 t-lines a week I dont wanna here anymore box talk.

why get a 1000rms sub if you aren't going to use it like one? sure it could live off 550watts but a 550watts@1ohm amp is probably going to be from a more expensive brand so why not go with the mb quart at that point?

could he go with 4 gauge sure but there is no reason to save $20 until you need an upgrade when you can just buy a 1/0 kit that will last you forever right now for such a small price increase.

don't. poor signal quality since its designed to be able to fit where a regular amp usually can't. the brand itself is known for doing rated power but its very dirty power.
