I doubt that 1 10" sub with an amp would weigh enough to greatly hinder performance but maybe im missing something?

he meant hinder the performance of the sub. sound weakens when it has to pass through high density materials so the tank being there weakens its output.

I'm saying a metal firewall wit a seat infront of it and a metal gas tank behind it is not going to allow enough air flow for it to be nearly as loud as in a normal trunk and that I wouldn't bother unless you're fine with minimal bass for $600.

in a car your trunk is about the only reasonable option since subs are so large.

there are plenty of subs out there but finding one with the right power for your needs is the key. most people just want to be loud but just wanting to round out the bottom end of your music is trickier.

Trunk setups like firing from the trunk so the waves can bounce off something just setting a subwoofer in your back seat is going to yield similiar if not WORSE results... and for the 3rd time for $100 you're not finding better than that Premier Pro :-p Those Pro's sound clean as hell take every bit of their rated RMS and then some and work really well in sealed boxes while still reaching low I've used them I love them for $100 they're a steal.

as I said I would spend more money on something for the interior, was just wondering if it would be worth it... what kind of cash would I be spending on a single 10 that would be heard better than your first suggestion and what would you suggest...

The problem isn't recommending something better you would need to go ported and get a bigger subwoofer and I just don't know if you have the space.

Any good 800-1000w RMS amplifier that does rated @ 1 ohm. Also you'll want a Dual 2 Ohm Pioneer not a Dual 4 Ohm since you're only getting one.

Look for brands like:

Hifonics Brutus 1200D
AudioQue AQ750
Audiopipe 1000
Kicker DX1000.1D
MB Quart Onyx 1000.1D

Some of those are under $200 pick which one is within your budget.
