I've settled into the final hardware for my trunk, and am looking for some advice.
I'm running a 1,000 watt Kenwood mono block (300w RMS?) with line-out from the back speakers for signal to dual 12" ATR's in a ported box.

I'm looking to strike a nice balance between SQL and SPL. I've toyed with the amp a lot, sounds pretty good. Any suggestions on settings?

Edit : I'm going to take detailed pictures tomorrow of the subs/box, the wiring arrangement, and the settings on the amp.

My suggestion, get an amp that will properly power those subwoofers.

300 rms is not enough to power 2x ATR's (1000 rms total).

I'm a big fan of running a bit less than half the max to the subs, I don't have the amp turned up very high on any of the settings and it huts harder than with 2200 watt 5 channel I was talking about before.
The amp is haven't any trouble powering them, does 300 RMS sound right for a 1k watt mono block? Maybe its 300x2? Let's get to the settings though.

Its better to overpower subs than underpower.

And that sounds about right for a crappy amp. Good amps, when it says 1000 watts, it means 1000 rms watts. And mono block means its a 1 channel, 300x2 means its 300 watts by 2 channels.

Better to overpower? That doesn't make any sense, I want my ATR's to last. I didn't know Kenwood made crappy amps, weird.

Kenwood is mainly known for their decks and thats about it.

And yes, its better to overpower than underpower, believe it or not.

I have ATR's that I've been overpowering for 3 years, and they still work just fine.
