Its the sound pressure level, its just air pressure, its not technically actual sound.
The comp I went to down in NH had a Jeep Cherokee that his 167dB, I believe the highest record of subs hitting was ~170dB.
Easily first place.
There are a lot of factors, that can affect the readings, meter used, type of mic, sea level, even temperature.
So its never the same, sometimes youll get a really high number even if you know its not supposed to be that high or low. But in a comp it doesnt really matter as long as everyone is tested using the same meter and under the same circumstances
