again i dont know why you think 2 atrs aren't capable of 141-143@1200-1500rms in a good box. i've seen this many many times so whatever you want to think.
sundowns are worth the money but they are not worth the effort to overpower by 65% and build a box to account for that with zero experience building boxes. for god sakes you assume a lot of the average entry level person to have not only the tools but the required carpentry ability to do it right. explain to me how you can explain how to hear distortion to people who have never even had a subwoofer before. thats like trying to explain sound to a deaf guy.
they are not worth the extra money because its not something a beginner should be doing because the margin of error is too high.
Funny because Avoids custom box with 1800w only his a 142.8 and that car with an aftermarket battery, custom box, 2000w+ barely hit a 142... So how do atr's hit a 142-43 easily? They don't and were comparing 1000w here not 1500w vs 1000w even in that case an SA-12 would probably beat two Type R's both SQ and SPL wise.
theres no effort in overpowering them 65% 1000w is nothing to them and in most cases barely pushes them. I've seen entry users putting 2k to a pair and complaining about how they could take way more, theres a guy that ran 2 of these daily @ .5 ohm off 3500w. 1k is NOTHING an SA-12 will take 1k better than 2 ATR 12's will take 1k I guarantee that. also if you run over 600w to a Type R you can hear the leap slapping against the cone and it's very audable you don't need distortion they just sound terrible. That's like you telling people to use WAV's it's no more audible then speaker distortion.
and honestly how hard is it to take a cut sheet go to home depot pay 5$ for them to cut the wood then buy screws and glue and some clamps (need 2 of these @ 8$ a pair.) and glue/screw the box together? If you watch one simple tutorial on youtube that's more than sufficient the hardest part is cutting the wood.
Point is people shouldnt settle for less because we allow it we know better and we should set the standard.
