You're wrong bro , very wrong... So your opinion means more than anothers huh? I'm sure you can spew out details all day but without a meter/testing of this I'm going to have to call it false way too many heavy hitters use IPOD's for SQ and SPL for this to be true.

these are facts about mp3 compression not my opinion.

sound quality is about being clean crisp and clear right? how can you ever be perfectly clean crisp and clear with a format that removes data(frequencies) from a song? this leaves gaps that can be easily missed to incredibly obvious. this is russian roulette for sound quality.

spl is about being loud which is much easier to do therefore as long as you have a reasonable mp3 track its probably fine but can be harmful from time to time.

so again its easier on spl guys but harder for sq guys. a high sample rate and good codec helps SQ and may make it pretty good but it will never be right.

all i'm saying is why run the risk at all? saving hard drive space is a poor excuse since hard drives are huge these days and you would have to download insanely random songs to ever fill one even in uncompressed format.

They are facts but not to the extent you make it seems, you really think you can hear 24khz? lmao? you really think .4 is going to change much on low end? It's not and you're not going to hear it. 90% of the time people don't even set their filters right in the first place bro more times than not your filters will be off by 1-2hz which is way worse than a freq cut off. It's not a poor excuse it's a damn good excuse, I have an IPOD made for playing music and it does it damn good and nobody not even you could tell the difference and like I said before I DOUBT you run WAV files burned to CD properly eigther so why nit pick me? I went from CD to IPOD and prefer it, fact or not.

Yes twice the bit rate is better, no freq cut off is better and non-compressed audio is better... Hands down never once fucking argued this fact. What I'm saying is it's not audible and it's not going to affect your TL numbers.
http://www.noiseaddicts.com/2010/04/sound-test-difference-between-wav-vs-mp3/

Theres tons of conclusive data showing you get no loss of sound going from MP3 to WAV just loss of quality... which they also state is very little. I'm sorry but you're all stupid for this argument as it makes no real world difference SQ or SPL, it's just vast opinion in my book believe everything you read all you want but it's not how it works.

and IMO SQ competitions are stupid... and I guarantee none of you in here can distinguish SQ from SPL I know I can't. Sure you can say L7's suck and CVX's sound way better but do you REALLY know what SQ is? if anything if you want SQ go sealed and don't even worry about subwoofers just get good mids, highs and some 8" subs for the doors with pods other than that you're not SQ anyways.

But thanks for clarifying subwoofer you have been very helpful unfortunatly I already knew what you've posted I'm just arguing the fact that you're not getting number loss or audabily changes out of it you will NEVER hear the changes that happen from going from WAV-MP3 avoid is a fucking idiot for stating that he could. Most adults can't even hear past 20khz.

like i said use a usb for competition specific stuff or an external hard drive if you want lots of high quality stuff. cd format doesn't require it being on a cd.

for everyday it doesn't matter unless your an obsessive SQ person(and they tend to be obsessive lol). but for competition you are supposed to do your best so why not use the best format? just seems pointless to me.

this is the same argument of aux vs usb. usb is a superior audio input and people will argue aux is just as good all day long even when the facts say otherwise.

and as far as me not running wav i definitely would in competition and the only reason i wouldn't run them always is if i was using a thumb drive and not a full size hard drive.

This is NOT the same argument as USB vs AUX, USB is easily better and easily audible in the difference... Please explain to me how you're going to lose numbers in a bassrace by using MP3, please do and explain to me how it's not doing your best by using mp3's? You don't compete so you can't say anything for curtain. "IF I competed I would run wav." Why? Explain to me how this is going to better my scores? Sure if you're a SQ enthusiast I'm sure you'll want WAV files, but I'm not and you're not so why claim shit? Why bitch about things that you'll never ever notice in any way? Does it look like my system doesntt hit lows? does it look like it doesnt hit highs? does it look like it affects my TL scores? dude I hit a almost a 145 sealed on music off 800rms I'm not worried about it tbh I'm ahead of my class and most classes above me.

The thing is you guys are worrying about stupid ass dumb shit that nobody else would worry about that's the stupid part. NOBODY worries about mp3 vs WAV why are you guys so damn worried about me running mp3's I gaurantee none of you have competed or heard an SQ setup or run WAV files so stfu already lol seems to me im plenty loud and plenty clean sounding and if I dont notice a diff neigther will you so we're ending this debate.

How am I wrong at all? please explain? I've emphasized MANY times that there is SQ loss but nothing on the TL is lost and nothing audibly and no cut-off frequencies. If I am wrong PLEASE correct me so we can be done with this stupid fucking argument, why not argue about something that matters? instead of picking my system apart because I use an IPOD because my damn CD skips, not my fault none of you are loud enough to make this happen. I for one notice no difference from CD to IPOD and no difference on the TL, and I'm not getting any more clipping off my IPOD than I would CD, so to me it doesn't fucking matter you guys are stupid if you think you can audibly tell the difference I bet most of you think Type R's are GG quality imo running subs like that makes your shit sound worse than a damn ipod with about the same quality.

I'm sorry to come off as a jackass but in real world testing you guys are severely missinformed and it shows. I don't mind criticism but don't make stupid statement about my build telling me to change shit out because I don't know what I'm doing, almost 80% of the people I know that know anything about audio run ipods for MANY reasons. Not only that you think I want a binder full of 300 scratched CD's when I can plug my IPOD in and fill it up at will? No thanks, I'll take 1% quality loss over the inconvenience of CD's if you're still running CD's it's time to penny up and get a good HU and a good IPOD and learn to convert your music. Besides that WTF do you think CD's are? They are MP3's 90% of the time... Just MP3's put on a CD format with less lossless data sure if you use WAV's that's fine but I can put WAV's on my ipod I just choose to use the space given and not have 5 songs per GB.

That's about all I have to say about that, now that you all made me look like a jackass lol

You've repeatedly tried to say that the SQ loss is inaudible to the human ear when it's an extreme loss.

Computer Science has nothing to do with audio, just saying.

Thats like sending a mechanic to work on your home electrical, because he knows something about Ohm's Law.

Modern audio conversion has everything to do with Computer Science, is this a joke?

Cadillac I've seen your topics and you know NOTHING about car audio so please back off... I have MANY times said the SQ loss is inaudable and it's indeed NOT, you think you can hear it? if so you're fucking stupid. This is just out of hand anyways, lol go say this shit on CA.com and see how long you last there all I'm sayin you don't gotta be an expert to know that some of these claims are bs so yeah onto the next great debate I suppose.

anyways I'm a nice guy regardless of if this makes me look like an ass theres just too many novices in here thinking they know everything about car audio, not pointing any fingers jus sayin 90% of the world uses mp3's even those CD's they use in those stands are mp3 cd's half the time so w/e is clever. I just stand firm to my statements if I'm wrong prove me wrong or gtfo with your bs.

you know IASCA right? get this...they use a CD for the sound quality test. those who judge professionals use a cd(wav) for sound quality competition so can we just end it on that note?

and this debate happens in length on every audio forum that there is. quality is subjective and thats why this continues to be a debate.

Ok that's cool I'm aware of that... only problem is I'm referring to SPL competitions. Get off this SQ high horse period because none of us are that good anyways and never will be. The whole damn argument is subjected and opinionated. On paper the quality is a big loss, in actual real time not so much fact /end discussion.
