Oh, I don't know much about audio, but I sell electrical supply and 2/0 is up there in price.  Is it any different than thhn copper?  Different jacket?

There is 3 main types of primary wire... pure copper, oxygen free copper (to prevent oxidation), and copper clad with aluminum(CCA)

Copper and ofc can handle more current than cca because cca has more resistivity per unit length... thats why CCA is generally cheaper. At the same time CCA is lighter because there is aluminum in it but the wire also heats up much faster under high current. I generally prefer ofc...

its not that its cheap its that it is pretty much the best. it carries current far much better than other cables. if you could get welding cable wrapped like power and ground wires it would probably be expensive.
