Find the right people. I bought a system w/ new radio for 250 and he installed it over 4 years ago and still bumps.
I purchased a 12" in a ported box 1250w amp all installed vs 250 and a pioneer deck. Quality and route of purchase will make all the difference. Shop off the normal market and talk to people. I am sure you can find a great deal on some audio.

I had a pair of Sony Xplods and a 500watt kenwood going for almost 3 years before I had an issue with it.

Now I upgraded and spent quite a bit on money but my shit will last for years.
