If all you want is a new head unit you do not NEED to change out your stock speakers.
But if ou wish to have better sound with more bass and /or clarity you can if you want.
But a after market head unit will work with your stock speakers

you're totally right...its common for 13 year old factory speakers that weren't made to handle anywhere near the power of an aftermarket head unit to be just fine.

do you know his factory head units power ratings?

do you know his factory speakers power ratings?

do you know his factory speakers impedance?

do you know anything at all about his factory audio specs?

generalized information with zero background knowledge is about as helpful as a toilet seat made out of razor wire.

lol. i agree here.

and i would not really worry to much about specific hu for the pandora app. i used to use pandora on my driod with my headunit via aux and i thought it sounded alright, once i got my ipod everything changed. i dont know why my pandora makes music not sound loud and and clear on a hu to me. my ipod works 100 times better than pandora ever did. if my ipod dies then im driving in silence i wont even hookup pandora from my phone thats how terrible it is.

I think I'd like to stick with the 5.25 speakers. Would Rockford Fosgate still be fine at that size?
