The most annoying thing to me about rca/remotes is that the RCA inputs are on one side of the amp and the remote is on the other, yet the remote wire runs through my rca cables and is connected almost the entire length.
I ended up just splicing some extra speaker wire and running that to the other side of the amp.
looks fucking ugly.

That exactly.
It is for "protection" so their is no disruptance in the sound flow through your RCA's.
You should be running a completely seperate REMOTE wire.
