now have you heard of people using rubber coating on subwoofer boxes, i thought of using about a year back but haven't seen anyone else using or suggesting it

like rubber instead of carpet?

doesn't ring a bell and i don't really see what it would help unless you are trying to keep water from ruining the mdf under it.

well that'd be one reason, and it'd be cheaper as-well (mainly because attempting to carpet my box myself wouldn't look close to professional)

spray glue+cut to the size of each side of the box and just slap it on. no reason to be fancy when its just glue and cheap carpet lol.

only thing about spray on rubber is idk how durable it'd be in the long run.

always seem to forget something, i need ~250watts @ 2 ohms,
is there any way to increase or reduce the resistance of a subwoofer, through other means besides the voice coils. seeing as i've got the dual 4ohm (p2d4-10) version

voice coils, number of subs, amp type all determine final load.

in your situation there isn't much of a choice since its 4ohm dvc, single sub.

I could always try and sell my current subwoofer for ~50$, buy the p2d4-12 for 85$, get the 400 watt mb quart mono-block, and then get alpine 4x6's

that pioneer isn't a bad such though for being cheap as it is if you want to consider using it and saving some money.

i'm just going to start from what i have (in full) and you let me know suggestions, i seem to have brand loyalty to kenwood/Rockford and i want to try alpine.
my problem is, that most of the guys around here car more about the "boom" of the base then the quality of it
everyone wants to go with big subs, with lots of power with shitty head units mainly boss and dual (nos trying to diss them, just the quality of the sound was >.> )

i have no amplifier besides the built in kenwood basstube

my front speakers are 4x6, they are on the actual dash, they normally go below the dash, but have to go on-top because the magnets are over size, and i cant put the stock grills on it because of this fact. The speakers are getting so hot the borders of the speakers (not the cone) is beginning to "melt" and mushroom out
the rear speakers really don't have problems imo
the subwoofer doesn't hit all the notes correctly (due to lack of power and box) wiring back there looks messy aswell

what i think to do priority wise:
1. buy some higher wattage front speakers (because mine are getting bad and so i can find an amp to power both my front and back speakers)
2. buy a 4-channel amp to power my speakers
3. buy new 4-channel RCA's for the 4-channel amp
4. buy an amplifer for my subwoofer
5. build a subwoofer box for my sub
6. buy a new subwoofer
7. buy a new wiring kit


i would put the 4-channel amp on the top of my list, but i'd hate to buy one and only use two of the channels, even though i'd use the other two in the future
