having the mech actually admit to doing a shit job may prove to be a job all in itself, and i get where your coming from, but i have a feeling you understood the basics of cars before you started, most ppl can hardly tell you what anything under the hood is, much less how and why it works, if he needs to have a mechanics basic course, he may not understand what can happen if he removes a coolant line, or gets into the pressurized ac lines, even if they are empty, the gasses contained in it can still cause dizziness and nausea just by breathing it, i would first read up on whats under the hood, possibly getting a good visual of what parts look like and what they do, then once you understand what it is, start taking parts out
also for ppl who dont know alot about cars, those manuals be be complete jibberish, i hate reading stock manuals its like pulling teeth
just imo of course. im currently building a 1991 toyota mr2, from scratch putting everything ive learned about OEM, and taking it a step farther by adding performance enhancing upgrades, which is alittle tricky because as we all know OEM mechanics and performance mechanics do not necessarily go hand in hand
