I'd go with a smaller sub before I'd go with a sealed box.

yeah ^^

the whole thing behind boxes is
it doesnt matter what box you have, what size sub, how much space in car, how much space in box
because the first thing that matters is what you have powering it up, cant get to step 3 without step 1 and 2

Every part of a system is just as important as the next.

My friend has the same subs that I have pretty much in a sealed box, I just bought a newer model. They sounded good enough for me haha. I don't really want to be loud, just better than my stock system in my car. This is my first system in my car and i just really want to gain knowledge / experience from it. They aren't the best so in all honestly, i could care less what people think of my system. It's not like I'm going to a comp or something lolz.

Thanks for all the information though guys. I think i may get a sealed because I loved the way it sounded.

i hear where youre coming from :)
always better to test/try/blow something thats cheap then go all in for first experience

its all about what you like, just remember the main thing thats always going to matter is going to be youre amplifier and how youre powering your system, look into that the most out of anything
too much power - subs go bye bye
too little power - :(

All components to a stereo system are equally important. Stop spewing things you dont know about.

The amplifier does matter, a lot.

As well as the the subwoofer choice, box design, box construction quality, box tuning, wiring, head unit, and even the vehicle matters.
