He already has an old pioneer in there? If so there should already be a harness in the car

ahh..so it would just be a matter of disconnecting the wiring that plugs into the pioneer from the wiring harness?

we tried to get that thing out..got damn close, but there is one very small tab on the metal frame that's holding it in now..gonna take care of it tomorrow or wednesday.

It's not as simple as disconnecting, but it's still quite simple

and yeah bro if you already have an aftermarket in the car you don't need anything.

if you're replacing an OEM radio with an aftermarket you need harness, dash kit, and sometimes you need the antenna adapter.

and yeah I think the hardest part in replacing a headunit is taking out the dash on majority of the cars,,,

the person who previously installed the pioneer didn't put the thing back together..so pretty sure all we need to do is pull the unit out..you don't generally have to pull off the complete front console do you?

but yea i know that hooking up to the harness requires the metal tubes surrounded with rubber to keep them connected so it's likely that we will have to remove those and replace them when putting in the new player

nope..it's a stereo unit in it, that seems to be ready to remove..the metal frame around the outside is visible, and able to be pulled from the console..it's just that one of the small tabs that holds it in place needs to be pushed so that it will come out, because it's almost all the way out =)

once you pull it out just unhook the connector(not from the back of the stereo itself) that hooks the stereos wires to the cars wiring. on the stereo wiring you'll see where the wiring harness attaches to the stereos wiring. unhook it all and attach it to the new head units wiring. you'll need to find the wiring diagram to know what each wire is.

probably going to need pioneer keys to remove the radio. the radio slides and locks into a metal sleeve that holds it in place. on both sides of the radio you could probably see where you need to insert the keys. you can probably use any type of metal that is thin and strong enough to release the radio.
