buying used stuff without knowing EXACTLY what to look for is asking for trouble.

honestly just do the door speakers/head unit and then when you have $400-500 laying around do the sub.

well nobody has exactly told me what to be looking for... someone let me know whats brands are good, what kinda stuff im going to need, etc. i need to know the works because i know nothing of sound systems in cars.

by "what to look for" i mean how to tell if they are tore up or have been treated badly. underpowered amp...overpowered amp....voice coil friction....glue coming loose....if they were wired correctly inside. since most people selling the stuff don't have it hooked up anymore it leads to even more problems since you can't test them to be sure.

for you to try buying used with your current knowledge is probably going to land you some junk.

your best bet right now is to just upgrade the door speakers and head unit because thats the only realistic things to do on your budget.

will upgrading the doors add a little bump, because thats really all im looking for haha

Holy fucking fail & you drive a malibu

not even close to as problematic as a 2001 ford focus. i've never heard of a malibu blowing through fuel pumps every 10k miles

if it has the same suspension as the euro models (I doubt it, but maybe it will) ford focus's are one of the best handling cars of their type.
