Figure out how much space you have to work with. Also need to figure out how much you need to spend on electrical upgrades.

A DECENT wiring kit is 100~200 bucks. Go beast mode on wiring, no smaller than 4awg wiring. People over look that way too often. Check how much room you have to fit the right size box, air supply inside a box is crucial. I would immediately walk away from 15's. They sound like shit, which is my opinion. I'd go two 12's. Everyone and their mother has kicker now a days. Memphis audio, JL audio, and MTX are really nice. I have 4 audiobahn sub's, two tens and two twelves, the natural sound series. Good luck finding REAL audiobahns. They are out of business last I heard. That being said, a sound system is your preference. Mine hits pretty hard, but the clarity of mine is jizz worthy. If you want to beat your brains out, get you some 15's lol. One last note, a system is what you spend on it. You can be cheap, and sound shitty or get a nice one. 1000 bucks will get you a pretty nice setup tho, that's an average amount to spend on quality. Make sure when picking out your amp, don't go by speaker/amp wattage. Go by the speaker/amp RMS rating. That's another common mistake. I have a 10 inch jl audio and a 250 watt amp, but since the RMS rating match, the amp matchup looks wrong, a 1000 watt sub with a 250 watt amp,lol....that's the typical response I receive. Then I crank that ho up and beat balls like you've never seen. Good luck and lmk if you need more help

I agree with most stuff you said except for "15s sounding like ass" the size of the sub has nothing to do with how the bass sounds it's all in the box tuning, placement of the box, and the vehicle itself. Ive had everything from 8" to 18" and 15s are my favorite.

I had a set of old school 12" audiobahns with the fat surround and I loved them. The new ones aren't even worth it

When it comes to Jl you can shell out 1k+ for a w7 or you can stop WTF your doing and think, a single 12" or 10" sundown x for half the price higher power rating and still have suppurb quality. they even stepped up and made an 8 and 6.5" sub. Maybe these are what you are looking for.

Here's a link for the sundown x series woofers, this is where I order all of my speakers and woofers through
http://www.emfcaraudio.com/sundown-audio-x-series/

You would only need a single 10, 12, or 15, maybe 2 8" or 2 6.5" if you want them under your backseat

There's videos out there of these 6.5" doing work.

If the x series are out of your price range go to the sa series
Try to stick with matching subs/amp setups

I also run sky-high power/ground and speaker wire, xs power batteries, rockford mids/highs. All personal preference.
