So I'm just doing some prewiring before I install my girlfriends new radio.

Her car is a 2001 Honda Civic sedan (I don't know model, can't remember, she just got it)

The unit is a Kenwood KMM-BT308U, and the wiring harness is an e2 86+ honda ( EHA28f).

My question is for the Dark blue wiring on the actual harness, it is labelled as "Power Antenna". I don't know what wire on the head unit it goes to.

As far as I know, I have three choices:

1) Don't connect it to anything. I've read that this leads to poor radio signal.

2) Connect it to the Blue/White (Power Control wire). The description says : "to the power control terminal when using the optional power amplifier, or to the antenna control terminal in the vehicle" (this is what I believe is right)

3) Connect it to the Blue wire (Antenna Control wire). Description says: Not used

if it doesn't have a power antenna then there is no reason to hook up any wire that has to do with a power antenna.

As far as connecting the power antenna wire (yes, it is there, your antenna isn't a power antenna, but this wire is a booster that boosts the signal, so it "powers" the antenna). Hook it up to the same wire you conect your remote wire to, and you'll be golden. This signals the booster to turn on when the radio is on. The wire will be blue. Connect it to the blue/white remote wire. It will be on whenever the HU is on, but that won't be a problem, it'll be boosted all the time the radio is on instead of just with the radio. It won't kill your battery, but it will dramatically improve radio reception.

Just found that doing a search.

I looked earlier and found nothing though.

so yes you need to connect the power antenna wire. without it you will still get reception, but with it you will get WAY better reception. also, my AM radio BARELY worked before and only when i was at the top of a hill. now it sounds crystal clear.

if your aftermarket harness has a blue wire with white stripe, connect your power antenna wire to that. if you dont have it, i would say you should be able to connect it to the ignition power and it should work. and no it shouldnt need its own ground because its connected into the harness which has a ground already supplied to it.

if it has a booster then yes you need to use the switch 12 volt blue/white wire.

annoyances like this pop up when you have a wiring harness that spans 2 decades lol

I figured haha, the harness is weird. It has 2 different "plugs". First time I've seen that, think that comes from the 3 different makes and almost 30 years it covers lol.

It's not my car, so I don't know what it has and what it doesn't without really tearing it apart and looking into it.

All I've ever done has been Chevy's, I really need to get deeper into this again, I love playing with wires and sound.

I just bought the HU today, it's her birthday gift, it's what she asked for.

She's not here. I just wires the harness to the HU so I could just plug it in, and not have to worry about it that day

did u figure it out? those extra plugs are usually for different makes of cars. universal wire kit. yaint no?

I've only ever done installs for GM's. Never had the one with 2 plugs on the harness. I knew it was for different makes.

i installed one in a eclipse with a factory amp that I had to use 3 different plugs but that wire harness had like 8 different plugs. just barely got it all to fit behind the dash. was a huge ass mess.
