So I used to have some half assed dual sub enclosure setup with a couple old 1000w Pioneer subs years ago. Fast fwd to today, the subs and amp have been tossed out and I just have the box and I wanted to hear suggestions on some subs and amp. A friend of mine has a single sub and suggested Pioneer TS-W2502D4 (http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_16664_Pioneer-TS-W2502D4.html).

Don't rly wanna spend more than $350-450 overall if I can help it so I'm obviously not needing to blow out my windows or w/e. Idk if it makes a difference but I listen to hard rock so if there's a sub that's better for that type of music, post em up plox. :D

can't just stick any sub in any box.

need to know the airspace the box has and whether its ported or sealed.

and if you are buying new stuff you may as well buy a new box anyways. single boxes are usually around $50.

what brand/size wire is currently ran?

what car?

http://store.soundsolutionsaudio.com/categories/sub-woofers/soundsolutionsaudio/gcon.html

check into these or any ssa line of woofer.
also dss has some nice subs.
cant go wrong with fi either

as far as amps go check into
crescendo
audioque/soundqubed
hell even audiopipe amps are halfway decent budget amps.

with that tight of a budget I would honestly search around on your local craigslist and Facebook classifieds
and try to stay away from
sony
pioneer
crunch
hifonics
pyrimid
audiobahn

What's ported vs sealed?

Where would I have to look at to see the wiring info?

your local craigslist
THESE arent the best subs in the world but I would offer him 300 for the whole setup and you will be plenty happy with them for what you want them for.
I have the exact same setup in my wifes car and it sounds good.
you wont win any competitions with them but still not a bad deal.

That sounds good man, thanks a lot. Probably try to get that one, but yeah, like I said I'm not looking for the whole top-end "I heard you coming a mile away" boomboom. Just want something that'll make my music nicely louder.

/e That alpine sub is freaking giant box lol, probably would take up 1/3-1/2 my trunk space. :P

so you are wanting to round out your music rather than get a lot of bass?

what speakers/head unit you running in the front? they amp'd?

your budget allows for a fairly loud setup but if your mids/highs are weak and you don't want to replace them you are going to need to get a fairly mediocre sub to not drown them out.

Current speakers are just stock. Unfortunately, I can't find anything online about exact specs other than 6 speaker - 360 watt system that comes with the navigation package upgrade.
