so i have a 12inch 1200watt jbl sub, 1200watt sony xplode amp, 12volt capasiter, and my head unit is a sony xplode deck that it prob about 7 or 8 years old.
its never been able to hit the high bass, but it can hit low bass very clean, it also dont bump very hard if at all on country music/rock music which id like it to.
the deck only has a few settings and i was curious if thats the reason.
i recently turned the amp to almost max settings but now everything sounds like shit so im going to turn it back to where it was.
any suggestions?

low boost=0
filter=low pass=120hz or so since you listen to more than just rap/hiphop.

the filter is what determines the frequencies that play.
the low boost is a bit of a last resort setting
level=voltage. starting it out at 2 volts is a good place to start. you'll need to do some personal tinkering with this setting.

if you are having to turn the low boost and the level all the way up to try to make it loud...the problem at that point is its only 250 watts of power @2ohm. its not ever going to be very loud.

i habe low mid high lmz and something else on my deck.
im not really to concerned about loudness, more so about clean hits.

the head unit settings are going to be something you have to deal with depending on how your speakers start sounding.

those amp settings should help the sub from sounding horrible though. the filter should stay where it is but you'll have to do some trial and error with the level and low boost to get it how you want it. turning the low boost and/or level all the way up isn't a good idea though.

instead of fuckin around with you amp.. try a different box... its hard to get high and low bass out of a box but you can... try a 4th order bandpass..

fucking around with my amp sounds like a much easier and less expensive process. you are correct but id rather not spend anymore money on audio eq.

k so i turned the settings back down to what subwoofer had recommended for the most part. (which seems somewhat similar to what they were before i turned them up)
checked all wires to make sure everything is tight, relised power wire to capacitor was loose, grabbed allen wrench and was tightning it. snapped the bolt the goes from power supply wire to the internal shit. ended up removing the capacitor and wiring power supply straight from the battery to the amp.
turned on gucci mane - trap house 3, drove around the block) and holy fuck does that sound sexy. very clean and hits hard. (vol 23, about where i could go up to without it being so loud itd hurt lol
turned on luke bryan - thats my kind of night, sounds meh. doesnt hit as hard as id like it to but i was also in my driveway so didnt want to be a complete dick lol (was on vol 18) will try other country songs later tonight when i go to work and can push shit.

lemme know if u wanna make a box I can help you.. its not hard to make and when u buy mdf from lowes n home depot n shit they will cut it.. all u gotta do is glue/screw and seal..
