I want to make my car so loud, I can get a ticket for disturbing the peace. I currently have about a 500 watt amp with 2x 12 inch polk audio subs with a ported box. The max I think is 300 watt on each sub. Which means they haven't reached their potential... I want to know if I should put more in my vehicle ( A jeep Cherokee 1998 plenty of trunk space ) or upgrade to a bigger sub / amp. Iso opinions.

get rid of the low end polk setup first off.

secondly you really need to provide a budget.

Straight 6 4l the longest lasting jeeper motor out there, currently put a new alternator in there, and I have polk audio all round in my vehicle.

If he really wants to disturb the peace he will need 200+. Get some p3 15" rockfords or T1 series rockfords, always been a rockford guy!

budget is going to be the issue when it comes to power.

OP are you going to be building the box or is this not something you can do? i mean physically building the design itself is fairly easy.

It's very easy to build a box, the difficult part is getting everything correct for dimmensions to perfectly tune the box so the freq. that you want. Personally my advise to him is if he doesn't have the time or math skills to build a box, you can always go on Craigslist and people will build one for you. For a price of course. The lower the Hz the box is tuned to. The lower the notes will be played :] I'm a fan of 20hz, but for most people that's wayyyy too low.

For 1,500 you could easily go with something like 2 p3 15" Rockford Fosgate subwoofers - $320 for the pair. I believe these are 600 watt rms? So go with a 1,200 Watt rms amp :D Class D mono blocks is usually what i go with, amp is around $180, mine is a hifi. I know hifi is on "the low end" but compared to my MTX Jackhammer, Alpine, and Kenwood amps that I've had. I love my Hifi... Then you just put the cost of the Alternator in there which is probably around $200... So $700 for components which isn't bad.. Build a box $40 or Buy a box from someone who custom builds it $200+ then you just need the wiring kits (if you can install the wires awesome you saved yourself $100!) then you just need an aftermarket deck which you have a choice of double din or not. Double din are often the big ass decks that play movies on and what not (overkill) go with a basic deck for around $100 - $200, bluetooth is a nice option on those but is not needed.. Total what i stated here is around... $1,100 - $1,300. (YOU SAVE A TON OF MONEY IF YOU INSTALL + BUILD YOURSELF)

And just throwing in here, i've been pulled over multiple times for disturbing the peace. They can't give you a ticket though if they don't have any proof because you can bring the ticket to court and deny the claims. :} In my experience anyways..
