Any recommendations? I know Bazooka makes them, not sure who else sells subs that have an amp attached already and in an enclosure.

Specific ideal models? I have a junk Honda Civic, just want something simple to hook up and that will add some thump to my music

Looks like those would be tough to get where I live (no audio shops within a few hundred miles sell em I think).

Look pretty cool though. Also, not looking for super compact, mostly just self powered/simple setup.

I found a BTA10250D that I could get for dirt cheap.... my only confusion (as I know little about subs etc.) is how does the thing get powered by just a few tiny wires going to my head unit? I know it has a 250W amp built in, but how is the amp getting powered? Seems like a head unit would be insufficient (attached to the car battery or something?).

sonicelectronics.com they have sub +amp combos and i believe shipment is free within 48 states, everything is brand new the only reason they sell the stuff at discounted price is because its older models of whats currently out.

this is how you power a car audio system, you first off need power and ground wire for your amp, depends on how many watts you are tryin to run is goin to tell you what size wire you need, if you running 1k watts id go with 4 guage power and ground wire. your going to need enough wire( length_ to run from your battery in your car through your firewall through your car and into your trunk and hooking it up into the amp. the ground wire is for the amp to be grounded to a unpainted metal surface in your car, preferably somewhere where the metal is thick enought to abs the ground corectly. then after that is done your goint to need to run a remote wire which normally in my area is a blue wire small maybe 16 guage or so. that goes fro the back of your head unit to the remote on your amp, your going to have to run that throughout your car also. after that is hooked up your going to need rca cables that also goes from your head unit to your input on your amp. after that is all setup you should be good to go. websites have amp instalation kits for cheap, but remember your goin to want a inline fuse 1ft from your battery. for power surges. its actually not hard to do at al, for newbies probably take 1-2 hrs tops for a clean instal, no loose wires around the inside of the car. pull up the kick panels and tuk the wires, im sure there are videos on the net if you want to view. its simple and if you have patience and a little time to mess around one day go for it. otherwise youll probably spend a few hundred bucks at a audio store to have it done by them.

Well the reason I was asking is that I asked Bazooka about what is required to set up their pre-amped subwoofers and they just have a basic wiring harness setup to it that goes to the back of the head unit. Is there some additional wires I need to buy to ground/power it that I am missing? Sort of looks like it based on this diagram:

Stupid question, but will a sub/amp make any noise if it isn't hooked up to a head unit?

Looking at a sub/amp combo that a guy tried hooking up to a power supply / rca connection of some sort. He didn't get sound but it doesn't seem like he would get sound?

Any thoughts?

it has to be hooked up to the head unit or at least something giving out a signal.

if you hook it up to just power ideally it will do nothing but if its done badly it will have a static feedback.

I was wondering because it is for sale quite cheap. It isn't bazooka which i was hoping for, but it is listed in "as is" condition because he doesn't have a head unit to hook it up to and couldn't get sound but did get power doing what he did. Hoping to scoop it up cheap and it actually work
