I own a 99 2dr accord

1. Recently i changed the head unit to a jvc a815(comments on this unit would be nice) and the reception as worsened, i've researched a bit and found it may be the ground wiring but have no idea what that means or how to fix it.
or what other problems could it be?

2. I've read that when you take out the head unit there's a lock code you need to put in or something but i never had to do anything like that and my radio works fine, is there something missing in my car?

3. My speakers front speakers start to make a fuzzy noise when the volume is up and i'm looking to replace my speakers all around to have a better sound system.
My friends have told me to look for alpine or pioneer but there's so much stuff I don't understand. I called an audio store and they suggested I get the ds kicker series speakers which give good bass for the price

I was told to look for a maximum of 60 watts or I would need amps, not ready to invest in amps and subs just yet but I may in the future(nothing big though) so I don't want my speakers to rule that out if it affects that in any way.
Couple things I don't understand:
db sensitivity
2-way, 3-way, mid-way
frequencies

Anyone have a suggestion for good speakers or what I should do in general?
Thanks

1. chances are its a wiring issue. did your wiring harness have a power antenna wire you didn't wire up? this may be necessary.

2. this is only for factory head units pretty much.

3. how much are you looking to spend on speakers?

sensitivity is basically how how loud the speakers get with 1 watt of power. this is basically a power efficiency rating.
2 way: tweeter and midwoofer
3 way: tweeter, supertweeter, midwoofer
4 way: tweeter, 2 supertweeter, midwoofer

2 way is the best way to go simply because there are less moving parts that can fail. 3 and 4 way speakers offer little to no actual performance enhancement but 3 ways are fine to...i wouldn't bother with 4 way because thats just redundant to have 2 super tweeters on a single speaker.

frequencies are just the audio frequencies they can play. it typically breaks down to:
subwoofer: 20-80hz
midwoofer: 81-5000hz
tweeter: 4000-20000hz(although they typically get rated over 20k hz you won't really hear these frequencies)

Thanks for your reply!
Very insightful <3

I will have to relook at the deck, i believe everything was hooked up though

I'm not quite sure what i'm looking to spend, maybe around the 100 area used? Would buying used be okay?
Maybe up to 150ish? Something good that will do the trick basically.

Your frequency chart really breaks it down for someone like me to be able to understand :)

What kind of specifications should I look for when buying speakers then?
The higher the sensitivity the better? What's a good general sensitivity?
What kind of frequency response should I be looking at?
And what kind of watting should I look at? Higher the better up to 60 cap?

In total I believe I need 6 speakers? 2 front, 2 doors and 2 back? Correct me if i'm wrong

i wouldn't recommend buying car audio stuff from individuals. its too easy to damage speakers to risk it.

is that $100-150 for both sets or $100-150 a set?

essentially you'll be worrying more about build quality. getting a quality brand will generally mean the speaker itself will be good.

higher sensitivity lets it be louder with less power. it doesn't necessarily mean it will sound better.

the frequency response will be the same for almost all speakers. human hearing is generally 20hz-20000hz just to give you an idea.

your head unit only has 20rms watts so speaker wattage isn't going to be an issue just running off the deck.

from what i looked up its 4 speakers. two 6.5 speakers in the front and 2 6x9s in the back(although i'd recommend doing adapter plates and 6.5s in the rear as well).

two sets of http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_63998_Pioneer-TS-A1675R.html and 1 set of http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_3689_Metra-82-6901.html

Oh okay, I guess I will either buy from a big box store or an independent audio store

I would hope to get $100-$150 for both sets - sets meaning 2x 6.5 and 2x 6x9 right?
Would that price range get me a decent audio system?

What should I look at to determine what will sound better?

I saw a speaker on kijiji 30hz-30khz, since it doesn't go down to 20, that would not be a good choice for me right? Since you said humans can hear 20-20k so I wouldn't hear the 20k-30k and I would be missing the 20-30
Or like the link you gave me - Frequency response: 35-31,000 Hz, will that mean my speakers will not have a good bass sound since it cannot go to 20hz?

Since my deck is 20watt what does that mean? I just read that having more watts on speakers is a good thing so it can support the output of the deck
But I don't understand how watt affect the head unit or quality, will higher wattage be better or lower is better?

sonicelectronics was the place i called to get some info, they suggested the sd kicker series speakers - sd 65 or something and it would cost about $125 total, what are your opinions on that?

Also I'm curious why do you suggest getting 6.5 for the back instead of 6x9?

i wouldn't bother buying at a brick and mortar store in canada...the mark up is INSANE.

these type of speakers come in sets of 2. so 2 sets=4 speakers.

this price range is still entry level stuff. $100 a set is generally where they start getting into better speakers. such as http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_7756_Focal-165-CA1.html

i don't generally suggest going with kicker anything unless you have a way to get a great deal on it. they are too overpriced for their performance.

with this level of equipment determining sound quality is going to be kind of tedious since they will all be lacking in sound quality and performance in the big picture. sticking with well known brands will get you a good performance entry levels speaker with good build quality...this is about as in depth as you need to be at this point.

the frequency range of that is fine. tbh you don't want to try to play those frequencies on this type of speaker. anything under 80hz is subwoofer range so don't worry about getting that low.

20rms isn't much. almost all entry level speakers can handle this power safely. higher wattage means it can get louder because it can use more power...this however is a non-issue because you are only going to be using 20rms watts so having a 80rms watt speaker doesn't change anything because you are still only using 20rms watts.

oval speakers are inherently worse sounding and having 4 of the exact same speakers assures you don't get two speakers that sound differently and interfere with each others sound properties.

Lol how did you know I was from Canada?!

So I think the speakers you sent me the link for would be my optimal choice at this point?

I'm still not too understanding of frequencies, I understand which equipment supports what frequency from your chart but how do I know when my song or setting is playing at what level?
Like I still want to be able to play rap or dubstep songs that have some bass in them and not have that fuzzy noise. Would it be okay?

About the watts, does you mean louder as in volume control louder? I don't want to go deaf in my car so it should be fine right? It has nothing to do with quality or performance?

And those speakers should be able to fit in my car front and back right? I found this post that might be quite useful

"If you have a coupe not any 6x9 will fit, the coupe top mount depth is only 2 13/16" (2 3/4) (trunk torsoin springs in the way) I have a pair of Pioneer TS's 3-ways on the rear deck, the door stock depth is only like 1 15/16 or lower, you may need spacer rings for the door in most cases. Again I think Pioneer makes a TS 2-way speaker that will fit like OE. The pioneers are ok with a HU power but you'll likely want something larger (power) for running a 4ch amp.

I'm not a fan of cutting out the door speaker pockets to make larger (deeper) units fit."

kijiji=canada giveaway

for your price range they are the way i'd go. they just came out with them 4 months ago so its their latest designs for that series. and yes these speakers are shallow enough to fit all of your cars stock openings.

you won't know exactly what frequencies they are using. just think of it as bass and treble like rap beats and guitar. if the music you are listening to is rock/metal its not going to have much in the lower frequencies that a subwoofer would play.

if you aren't running high powered sub/midwoofers you really won't need much more than 20rms watts to be happy with it.

Oh lol, I thought states use kijiji as well, guess not.

Where are you from? :P

So I guess I will be ordering those. I hope shipping wont be too much...

I usually listen to guitar songs, hiphop, rap, club songs
I don't listen to rock/metal at all actually.

For example -
call me a spaceman by hardwell ft. mitch crown around 1min - i'd like to turn up the bass a bit like usually on the deck equalizer settings it's -5 - 5, maybe around the 4 point? Would that be okay?
get up by bingo players ft far east movement around 45sec
harlem shake by baauer

Thanks for all your help btw, Ima send you a friends request if you don't mind :D

compared to brick and mortar store prices even with shipping you are saving yourself a lot of money. i doubt it will be more than $30 in shipping.

to get any real low end performance is going to require a subwoofer. door speakers are designed to play mids/highs.

as for specific settings thats going to be something for you to figure out. i can't even remember the last time i used a basic 3 band equalizer. i'm use to have precise settings over specific frequency ranges lol.

if you want to try to get a cheap sub setup:
